The wheels of the chair can be controlled by the voice or gesture movement or by touching the screen of the android app by the challenged persons. In this paper, we present a development of android based powered intelligent wheelchair to assist the quadriplegic person by making them self sufficient in controlling the wheelchair. As the Smartphone era has evolved with innovative android based applications, engineers are improving and trying to make such machines simple and cheap to the next level. It's a major challenge for quadriplegic persons as they really find it difficult to manipulate powered wheelchair during the activities of their daily living. To accommodate population, researchers are using technology, originally developed for mobile robots to create 'intelligent wheelchairs'.

En este trabajo se describe el desarrollo de una aplicación móvil en android, que mediante una comunicación Bluetooth entre el dispositivo móvil y un sistema electrónico de posicionamiento geográfico instalado en un camión, se pueda registrar y almacenar el recorrido realizado por el vehículo en la Ciudad de México, de tal forma que se pueda trazar, monitorear y optimizar la ruta realizada. Bluetooth, por ser una tecnología inalámbrica y de corto alcance, se está empleando para la transmisión y recepción de datos, que pueden ir desde aplicaciones interactivas para viviendas inteligentes (Chun et al.,2011 Yan & Shi, 2013), salas de chat (Pan et al., 2012), Revista Colombiana de Tecnologías de Avanzada sistemas de bloqueo remoto y seguridad en el hogar (Jeong et al., 2014 Potts & Sukittanon, 2012), hasta aplicaciones de posicionamiento geográfico de vehículos y usuarios (Blanco & Romero, 2010 Cedeño, 2013 Gonzáles et a l., 2012) con Bluetooth o servidores y navegadores web, mediante el empleo de los mapas de Google (Pacheco,201), entre otros. Android, que es el sistema operativo de Google de código abierto, actualmente está siendo adoptado por la industria y los usuarios de teléfonos inteligentes, para el desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles de entretenimiento y/o científicas, integración de tecnologías a través de servicios web, conexiones Wi-Fi, comunicaciones de datos por Bluetooth y/o NFC, posicionamiento geográfico, bases de datos, aplicaciones en domótica (Gung et al, 2011) y el área automotriz, entre otros. Using this system, users can do a variety of management functions such as adding, deleting, modifying, and purchasing the user’s own locks. Even though users forget the password, our proposed lock system also guides them to find it easily, and provides the user’s manual. The users’ lock information in real time can be stored and managed in the database via a server that a server manager builds and manages. The main function of the Android smartphone is equipped with Bluetooth so that a lock can be opened and managed via the application functions. The remote lock system is a lock system that can be controlled remotely by a dedicated Android application. This paper presents the design and implementation of a remote lock system using wireless communications.
Through the smartphone using mobile applications, we can remotely control a variety of external devices such as TVs, projectors for presentations, computers, and even cars. Now smartphones not only provide the ordinary internal processes such as dialing or receiving phone calls, sending text messages, and doing mobile banking wherever we are, but they also are beginning to control various other devices that are part of our lives.
As smartphones have recently become one of the most popular devices worldwide, various convenient applications are being released.
